Coastal tram a holiday must, says Telegraph

11:27 29/10/2012

Whether you fancy travelling through De Haan’s working port or stopping off at De Panne’s theme park, a trip on the coastal tram (kusttram) should not be passed up, says the Daily Telegraph. “A trip on the kusttram should be high on anyone’s list of things to do. Covering the whole length of the coastline and linking all 15 towns, it’s the world’s longest tram route. The service is so frequent (around every 10 minutes in summer, 20 in winter) that you can just jump aboard and see where the tracks take you.” However, the British daily observes, “the best way to explore is to take to your own feet. An amble through the Maria-Hendrika Park in Ostend is a civilised way to spend an afternoon – perhaps with a trip out on the boating lake – followed by a tour of the 19th-century sculptures in the Leopold Park. Alternatively, you can get close to the city’s seafaring heritage on a walk around the east side, taking in the port, Fort Napoleon and the Ostend sailing club.”
