Christmas markets in Germany

Question

Ok folks the season of goodwill is approaching. I've been a few times to the German Christmas market in Aachen, any suggest anywhere else easy to drive or get train to they would recommend as a good Christmas market?

Monschau - easy to drive to, not good but not impossible by train and bus via Aachen.

It isn't large but Monschau is a pretty little town in a very scenic setting and the market is reasonably traditional.

Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (from 11.00) commencing 28 November.

Over the years I've been to a number of Christmas markets from Aachen to Munich and various places in between.
In my experience, they are at least 90% identical. Obviously they vary in size and some locations are more attractive - Monschau and Rudesheim, for example - but the markets themselves are very much a case of 'you've seen one - you've seen them all'.

I am sure there will be a review of Christmas markets on the "Bulletin" soon, because there is every year... the same one, in fact.
