Channel Crossings

Question

Ouch -- My usual channel crossing of Dunkirk-Dover has gone through the roof price wise. So -- P&O are about half the price for a day or 2 day return. The tunnel is also cheaper. Ive never used the tunnel -- Whilst I know the actual travel time is pretty quick -- my sister visited earlier in teh year and was held in a queue at both ends for ages before being loaded onto the trains -- for those who are tunnel regulars -- are there usually delays or was she unlucky? Not keen on tunnels - but if it quicker and hassle free - then I'll give it a go.

Thanks

tunnel can be subject to delays when the ferry services are disrupted due to weather, can be subject to delay at times of high traffic like school holidays or certain hours on a weekend day. Overall, no more subject to delays than the ferries, but you must not expect a super fast service every single journey. I've done the tunnel crossing over 1000 times. Worst is a delay late at night when services are more limited. Don't arrive late, you WILL have to pay a supplement if the fare is greater than what you paid.
