Caviar feature film production wins grand prize at Berlin
The Diary of a Teenage Girl, the first feature film produced by the new Los Angeles branch of the Brussels-based Caviar production house, has won the Grand Prize from the 14plus international jury at the Berlin Film Festival.
The Belgian film and television production company, which launched in 2004, opened its LA location on Sunset Boulevard just over a year ago with a massive all-night party that drew 1,400 from the film industry. Other projects in the pipeline include an American remake of the hit Flemish TV series Clan and the 2010 movie Smoorverliefd (Madly in Love).
The Diary of a Teenage Girl (pictured) is based on a graphic novel about a teenage artist in 1970s San Francisco who gets involved with her mother’s boyfriend. The film also won the prize for best cinematography at the Sundance Film Festival last month. It opens in Belgium this summer.
