cat-flap
You need a new window with a built-in cat flap section. You destroy the seal by cutting into a double-glazed window. About €400 + VAT.
Keep the cat inside and keep it alive instead.
I have been looking for the same thing and have not been successful. As J states, it's a bigger job than it sounds. And yes, I would happily pay 400 + VAT; I already paid about 1500 to have the large balcony completely enclosed with a metallic net so the cats (and the local wild life) are 100 % safe. Ah well, will just have to continue opening and closing the window (which leads to the balcony) up to 30 times a day..
Would suggest contacting some local companies, have heard both these do this but would have to be in French
how about -- replacing glass panel with a wooden one with a flap -- a lot cheaper -- if you rent -- then keep the glass and replace it back when you leave
There's three of them, cost 700 euro each. But if they were cats that I got for free from the animal shelter and re-homed, I still would have done the same. I don't consider myself a crazy cat lady, but since I have made a decision to take them, I owe it to them to give them as good a life as possible. And of all the money I have spent on these cats (and it must run to close to 10 000 now with vet bills and boarding cattery costs during the holidays and of course the general upkeep costs) netting that balcony was the best money I have ever spent. They spend a lot of time there every day, just enjoying the sun and the trees, hunting for small flies, and observing all that goes on around them. It has definitely enriched their life.
And this should also make you happy, J, because you can be 100% sure that my cats will never ever kill even one bird. :-)
Dear Steph, I'm very much interested in doing the same thing as you. As Ainaut has got more than one offices/stores, could you tell me which one you worked with and what is the same of the person who did the job ? Thanks for your answers !
