Cannabis farms becoming a growing problem for local authorities
An increasing number of cannabis farms are popping up all over Belgium, especially along the border with the county’s neighbor to the north, the Netherlands. According to Belgian police along the Dutch border, it’s becoming almost impossible to keep track of the farms or to shut them down.
Police say the only time they find a farm is when they receive a tip or respond to an incident, such as a fire. The situation in Belgium is beginning to resemble the Dutch side of the border, where farm after farm grows cannabis to feed the legal industry. Police believe that many of the farms are being left alone, making it even harder for them to be found.
The border region is not the only location where farms are taking root. Production is also popping up in Wallonia.
