Belgium is home to a number of top-ranked business schools, with programmes attuned to the current economic context

 

BBI – School for International Hospitality & Tourism Business offers a choice of two campuses to study: Brussels campus in Belgium and Wiltz campus in Luxembourg, both with two programmes: Bachelor (three years) and Master (two years) in International Hospitality and Tourism Management; comprising Double Diploma with Savonia University of Applied Sciences (Finland); international internships (managerial and operational); practice-orientated programmes and student exchanges; job placement worldwide after graduation, and further options with partner universities in Europe and the US. BBI is accredited by the UN World Tourism Organisation. The BA degree is validated by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. This means that the BA programme is accredited and meets the quality standards required by the Special Committee for Accreditation, an official body supervising higher education institutions (GDL State official regulation of 27.04.2011). The MA degree with Professional Certification provides advanced specialisations in the following hospitality management fields: Marketing and Sales, International Hospitality, Human Resources, Accounting and Finance, Club, Resort and Spa.

The International Management Institute (IMI) offers internationally accredited Bachelor and Master of Business Administration programmes from the University of Buckingham (UK). IMI offers these challenging and career-enhancing management degree programmes focusing on sustainable growth and development issues under the aegis of a balanced curriculum. Students get a cross-cultural educational experience and courses are taught uniquely in English and in small groups with individual supervision.

The Louvain School of Management (LSM), the business school of the Louvain Academy (UCL, FUCaM, FUNDP and FUSL), is spread over four campuses (Louvain-la-Neuve, Namur, Mons and Brussels). The school has 200 professors or equivalent full-time staff and researchers, including 61 core professors. LSM is an international business school in a university setting. Each year, 1,200 students, including about 145 international students, take our Master’s or PhD programme in French or English. In 2010, it was recognised by the Financial Times’ ranking as the best Belgian business school.

The Open University Business School, a faculty of the Open University at the same address, offers a wide range of management and professional development programmes. Studies build on work experience and learning can be applied immediately. Programmes suit different levels of management and development needs, from short courses taking no more than 30 hours to Professional Certificate in Management and a Master of Business Administration. Courses are in English and offered via supported distance learning. The Open University Business School is one of an elite group of business schools to hold AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA accreditation.

Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management is the latest faculty of the Free University of Brussels (ULB). It was created through the merger of Solvay Business School with the Economics department of the ULB. The new entity has more than 3,700 students (Bachelor and Master) split almost equally between postgraduates and undergraduates. This makes it the largest school of its type in the French-speaking Community. The school’s 51 full-time and 70 part-time professors, eight Competence Centres and three renowned Research Centres (Emile Bernheim Centre, Ecares and Dulbea) have recently moved into their own state-of-the-art building. Solvay Brussels School’s mission is to generate and share knowledge in economics and management, to train professional and responsible actors and to fulfil the needs of governance efficiency and innovation in a constantly mutating society.

Institut Supérieur du Management Public et Politique (ISMaPP) trains students to take up management positions in the European public sphere. ISMaPP is an establishment of higher education with a curriculum comprising taught classes and a full-time internship for total professional immersion.

Vlerick (pictured) is a top-ranked European business school that belongs to a select group of schools worldwide to hold triple international accreditation: the American AACSB, the British AMBA and the European EQUIS quality label. The school offers postgraduate degrees (MBA and Master’s programmes) and post-experience management courses (general and specialised courses for executives and company-specific programmes).
