Question

In Vlaams Brabant is it necessary to ask for a building permit to make structural changes to an existing garage, with no extensions of the size.
If so, how does one introduce a request for a building permit?

Ask your commune - the planning department is called "Stedenbouw"

Flemish Brabant - permit is necessary if you do any structural change. The request is introduced online via the omgevingslocket. To my knowledge, only architects, registered in the Belgian chamber,can introduce permits. Not 100% certain as we had an architect and he opened the file for us.
