Brussels shortlisted for Green Capital award
Brussels, Glasgow, Bristol and Ljubljana have been chosen to proceed to the next stage of the European Green Capital 2015 Award, organised by the European Commission. The prize goes to a different city every year in recognition of its environmental performance. The four cities have been shortlisted from eight entries across Europe. An independent panel of 12 experts assessed each entry on the basis of 12 factors, ranging from air quality, eco-innovation and sustainable employment to nature, biodiversity and transport. The cities will now have the chance to present their vision, their potential to act as a role model to other cities and their communication strategy to the jury in Brussels on May 24. The result will be announced at an award ceremony in Nantes – the current European Green Capital – on June 14.
