Brussels mourns victims of attacks in London and Kabul

18:38 05/06/2017

Between 100 and 200 people on Sunday evening gathered at the steps of the Bourse in Brussels to commemorate the victims of Saturday's attacks in the Afghan capital Kabul and London, writes Metro. The participants also wanted to show solidarity with the families of the victims of the Manchester attack on 22 May.

The crowd gathered on and around the steps of the Bourse in Brussels city centre to sing, rap and read poetry. Some laid down flowers, lit candles and wrote messages of hope on a large white canvas. Others held up photographs to show the barbarity of the attacks.

The memorial ended on a sour note around 20.00, when a man got into a scuffle with a group of Afghan refugees after he refused to stop taking the microphone, according to Het Laatste Nieuws.

In Kabul, three consecutive explosions took place during a funeral ceremony on Saturday in which 20 people were killed. In London, seven people were killed when three men attacked dozens of people with knives.
