Brussels metros flood with water after Tuesday storms

12:23 08/06/2016

Several Brussels metro stations on Tuesday evening were flooded due to the heavy rainfall, writes Bruzz. A number of photographs quickly appeared on Twitter, showing travellers wading barefoot through the water at Erasmus metro station. In Delta station, the water rose about 10cm high at the entrance tunnel to the station.

According to Brussels public transport operator STIB, the metro stations of Gribaumont and Pétillon were also affected by flooding, though to a lesser extent. A STIB spokesperson stressed that while the flooding caused a certain amount of inconvenience at the entrance halls, there was no problem on the platforms. Metro traffic therefore continued undisrupted.
