Brussels is concert central

12:31 14/04/2016

Brussels is the biggest concert destination in Belgium, hosting more than 28% of all the concerts in Flanders and the Brussels-Capital Region. Jazz and classical music are especially well represented in the capital, writes Brusselnieuws.

The City of Brussels, with an average of 3,184 concerts a year, hosts the highest number of concerts, followed by the communes of Ixelles (544) and Saint-Josse-ten-Node (436).

The results come from the study 'Live music in Flanders' conducted by the Flanders Art Institute, the centre for all music genres, performing arts and visual arts. The Institute made an analysis based on data gathered from the digital cultural databank Uitinvlaanderen in 2014.

Pop and rock music accounts for 39% of the concerts in Brussels, followed closely by classical music (27.5%) and jazz and blues (17%).
