Brussels Airport police to carry out thorough checks this week

12:01 20/04/2015

Passengers travelling from Brussels Airport this week are advised to arrive well in advance of their flight, as the federal police carry out actions to denounce what they are calling “a serious staff shortage” at the airport.

"Especially passengers to non-Schengen destinations, such as the UK, US or Turkey: we recommend that you arrive at the airport at least three hours before the departure of your flight," Brussels Airport spokesperson Anke Franssen told Belga.

The police unions will slow things down at the airport the entire week, in order to protest against the staff shortage faced by airport police. Their actions will be most greatly felt at security, where the police say they will do everything "by the book", which will lead to longer wait times.
