Brussels Airport expects busy Easter weekend

10:42 01/04/2015

Brussels Airport is urging travellers to come to the airport well in advance of their flights this weekend, as it expects about 220,000 passengers to travel through the airport during the first days of the Easter holidays, about 6% more than last year.

Peak times are between 7.00 and 10.00 and between 16.00 and 19.00, according to the airport, which is therefore requesting that passengers arrive at the airport at least two hours in advance of a European flight, and no less than three hours before an intercontinental flight.

In the days leading up to Belgium’s school holidays around Easter, this year on 5 April, Brussels Airport expects to see more and more travellers every day. Today, about 32,000 passengers will take a flight from the airport. The number is expected to rise to 41,000 on Friday and 40,000 on Sunday. In total, from Wednesday to Monday, some 220,000 travellers will have departed from Brussels Airport.

The airport noted in a statement that the Easter holidays are "an increasingly popular time to leave for holidays by plane." The top destinations among the major airlines at Brussels Airport are mostly sunny locales such as Spain, Turkey, Switzerland, Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt.
