Brussels Airport drops out of top 20 European airports
The dip in passenger numbers caused by the terror attacks of 22 March has led to Brussels Airport no longer being included in the list of Europe's 20 largest airports, according to figures from airport association ACI Europe and the European statistical agency Eurostat, writes De Standaard.
Brussels Airport welcomed more than 14 million passengers between January and August this year, or 10.7% less than the same period last year. Because of the decline, the Belgian national airport now ranks 22nd in the list of major European airports. In late August, 2015, Brussels Airport held the 16th position in the list.
Europe's largest airport is London Heathrow, according to the ranking, followed by Paris Charles de Gaulle and Frankfurt, with 75-, 66- and 61 million passengers in 2015, respectively.
