Brussel Helpt, the annual solidarity campaign organised by Bruzz, will this year be helping Babytheek Brussel, a ‘baby library’ where parents or grandparents can borrow high-quality baby supplies.

Brussel Helpt is calling for donations of baby items that can boost the organisation's current collection. Items can be dropped off at collection points across the city on 6 and 7 November.

"We are looking for baby carriers, seesaw chairs, baby monitors, bottle warmers, travel cots and maxicosis," says Eva van Velzen of the Babytheek. "We want to give people access to quality baby stuff." Because people only use their baby items so briefly, she hopes to encourage people to consider sustainability when they have finished with their baby items.

The Babytheek, together with GC Elzenhof, opened its first branch in Ixelles in April 2018. In the long term, due to high demand, van Velzen hopes to open one in every Brussels municipality.

In addition to collecting baby items, Brussel Helpt will raise funds for the Babytheek through its 'Biggest Spaghetti Battle in the World' festival where pasta dishes are cooked and sold around the city in various venues with proceeds going to a chosen charity every year.

For more information on collection points for baby items and the items that will be accepted, see the Brussel Helpt website.
