Broken Circle Breakdown gets US release

Tribeca Film yesterday announced it has acquired all U.S. rights to the Belgian bluegrass-tinged film The Broken Circle Breakdown, reports Deadline Hollywood. A late 2013 theatrical release is planned for the film which is directed by Felix van Groeningen, who also co-wrote it with Carl Joos. A box office hit when it opened in Belgium last autumn, the film recently played in competition at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival, where the writers won Best Screenplay for a Narrative Feature Film and lead actress Veerle Baetens won Best Actress in a Narrative Feature Film. Earlier this year it won the Panorama Audience Award at the 2013 Berlin International Film Festival. The Broken Circle Breakdown will later be released on demand platforms where it will be available in more than 50 million homes in the U.S. through a variety of video-on-demand offerings, as well as iTunes.
