Break inbetween jobs any consequences?

Question

I'm about to start a new job and as I do not have a lot of holidays left I'm considering taking a 'break'of a few weeks in between jobs - thus being umemployed for that period. I've checked with our HR but they couldn't think of any 'bad consequences'(except the income loss) in regards to insurance/pension etc. Still I'm concerned that in some cases you might get issues if you have this kind of break. Any experiences/advices?

It could affect your paid holiday entitlement in your new job. Paid Holidays are earned monthly in the current year for payment against holidays taken in the following year, and if you have a break, your entitlement to paid holiday will go down. It's a crazy system, and only someone like your mutuelle (or whoever handles your payroll) would be able to give you the full consequences. But if it's only a few weeks, then it's not really anything to worry about.
