Bozar to open rooftop terrace next spring
Bozar will boast a new rooftop terrace from next spring, with renovation work due to begin later this week.
The new open-air space will be above the main entrance, on the corner of Rue Ravenstein and Rue Barton Horta, and will offer visitors the chance to sunbathe with a panoramic view of the Royal Palace above and the city centre below.
Before it can open, the old roofing needs to be completely replaced, including new layers of waterproofing and insulation. Air conditioning units currently attached to the roof must be moved elsewhere.
The roof terrace conversion is being financed by the federal property agency, the Régie des Bâtiments, to the tune of €1.6 million.
A top-floor apartment previously used by a concierge is also being converted into a residence for artists. The project is part of a broader renovation of Bozar that has been under way since 2002.
