Bogus Pakistani NGO leaves Brussels for London
The Kashmir Centre, a self-proclaimed NGO acting as a front for Pakistani intelligence services, is to leave Brussels and relocate to London, Le Soir reports today. The association had been active for nearly ten years in the capital where it has long been monitored by State security, which regarded it as a Pakistani intelligence outpost. In 2011, an FBI investigation revealed that Washington’s Kashmir Centre was actually financed by funds from the Pakistani government and its main intelligence agency. The investigation also pointed the finger at the centre’s London and Brussels branches. In 2012, foreign minister Didier Reynders stated that the government did not recognise the status of ‘human rights NGO’ the association purported to have. The Brussels branch of the Kashmir Centre has announced that it was moving its activities to London.
