Body of drowned woman found on Ostend beach

Walkers yesterday morning found the body of a drowned woman on the beach in Ostend. A rescue helicopter  arrived on the scene and attempts were made to resuscitate the victim but to no avail, said the Bruges prosecutor’s office, adding that more details were expected on Monday. According to various sources, and the local police of Ostend, it appeared to be an accident. The middle-aged lady is thought to have encountered difficulties while swimming in an area of the North Sea where bathing is frequently prohibited.
