Belgium's oldest couple die within hours of each other

What is believed to be Belgium’s oldest couple passed away in East Flanders on Sunday, after 77 years of marriage.

On the same day, 101-year-old Maurice Weewauters and 96-year-old Victorine De Kerpel died, confirmed the dputy mayor of Lochristi, Herve Stevens.

Death failed to separate the couple, as hours after wife Victorine passed, husband Maurice followed.

The Tuesday prior to the determining Sunday, they celebrated their 77 years of wedlock in the presence of friends, family and local officials.
