Belgium’s Eurovision entry Jérémie Makiese secures place in Saturday’s final

10:28 13/05/2022

Jérémie Makiese’s Eurovision journey continues after the Belgian candidate was selected to compete in Saturday’s grand final following his performance in Thursday evening’s second semi-final.

The Antwerp-born singer’s rendition of ‘Miss You’ – a fusion of pop and hip-hop – earned him a place in the coveted final that will start at 21.00. Makiese, winner of The Voice Belgium 2021, is scheduled to perform in 16th place.

A total of 25 countries will take to the stage in Turin on Saturday, with Ukraine’s entry tipped to win the song contest. Both the public and professional juries will be casting their votes.

Belgium has only won the competition once, when Sandra Kim and her song ‘J’aime la vie’ were victorious in 1986.

The Eurovision Song Contest is organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which brings together Europe's public broadcasters.
