Belgium/Holland cross boarder working

Question

My husband (Belgium) and I (British) are thinking of moving to Holland to live. My husband would be working from home for his current Belgium employer. Does any one have experiance of this re tax, social costs etc.

Hello Drifter, thank you for your response. Unfortunately the previous question was posted by a non-eu resident, so circumstances are somewhat different.

Your mutual will be able to give you advice on the social security implications and reading the B-NL double taxation treaty (available on-line in Dutch) will help with understanding the tax situation.

It would seem though, that since you will be both living and actually working in the Netherlands that the Dutch would tax you on that basis and the fact that your husband's employer is actually based in Belgium is irrelevant.

I know many Dutch who choose to live in Belgium as the taxation and other costs are much lower, seems as if you are doing it the wrong way round.
