Belgium seeks a strong collaboration with Morocco on issues related to peace and security in the world, said Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Didier Reynders on Friday. In a statement to the press following his meeting with Minister-Delegate for Foreign Affairs, Youssef Amrani (pictured), the Belgian Foreign Minister welcomed the outcome of the meeting in Marrakech of the Friends of Syria, highlighting the readiness of his country to work with Morocco on the situation in the Middle East and in other regions of the world, Yacout Info reports.  “I welcome the initiative of His Majesty the King and the Moroccan government for having organized the 4th meeting of the Friends of the Syrian people. This meeting was a great success and helped affirm strong positions” Reynders said. The Belgian official added in this regard that Morocco plays an important role in the Security Council of the UN in the case of Mali, noting that Belgium and the European Union are ready to intervene and support the approach and the effort of Morocco regarding this question. He also expressed Belgium’s readiness to work with Morocco, particularly on the situation in Central Africa. Reynders hailed the relations of cooperation and partnership between Morocco and Belgium, noting that the two countries work hard to further strengthen them. “Our relations are good but we can go further,” he said, noting that Morocco and Belgium must ensure that economic development remains at the heart of their bilateral relations. For his part, Amrani said that Morocco and Belgium are determined to capitalize on their assets to move towards a more ambitious partnership, which involves new actors such as the Parliament, civil society and business, an important tool to create jobs and stimulate growth. Amrani also praised the exceptional political dialogue between Morocco and Belgium, the great potential for cooperation between the companies of the two countries, and the collaboration in the Security Council on issues related to peace and security.
