Belgium defence ministry opts for non-EU official vehicles

12:30 11/07/2013

The Belgium unit of South Korean car manufacturer Kia Motors has announced last night that its Sportage crossover vehicle has been chosen as the official car of Belgium's defence ministry, the Korea Times reports. Kia said it delivered the first vehicle to the defence ministry in a ceremony earlier on Wednesday. It said it plans to deliver 131 other units of the Sportage crossover to the ministry by October. Kia became the first non-European carmaker to provide vehicles to Belgium's defence ministry. The ministry said the Kia Sportage has earned the highest score in terms of price and performance, beating competitors including Volkswagen and Renault.
