Belgium dangles near bottom of global expat ranking
Taiwan is considered by expatriates as the best country to live, and Kuwait is the worst country, according to the annual InterNations Expat Insider Survey. Belgium ranks a poorly 39th in the list of 67 countries.
An expatriate, or expat, is defined as someone who is temporarily staying in a country with a culture different from their own. They are usually sent by their employer, although some applied for a job directly with a foreign employer.
The InterNations survey bundled the responses of 14,000 expatriates from 191 countries. The expatriates were asked about the moving process, family life, personal finances and quality of life in general while working abroad.
Taiwan, at the top of the list, scores especially high on quality of life and personal finances. It is followed in the ranking by fellow best countries for expats, Malta, Ecuador, Mexico, New Zealand and Costa Rica.
Belgium comes in 39th place for expatriate work-life balance.
