Belgium 10th in the world for gender equality

According to the World Economic Forum (WEF) report on Gender Equality, Belgium is number 10, up one place compared to 2013. Leading the ranking is Iceland at number one, followed by Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. At the bottom of the list is Yemen, having only closed 51% of its gender gap, according to the report.

The report looked at 142 countries and their policies on gender equality in terms of wages, access to highly skilled jobs, access to education and the extent to which women are represented in government and decision-making bodies.

Belgium takes 10th place in the list with a score of 78%, which is better than neighbouring countries, Germany (12), the Netherlands (14), France (16), the United Kingdom (26) and Luxembourg (28).
