Belgians struggle to make ends meet, new study finds

Many Belgians are struggling with money on a daily basis, a new study by Test-Achats has found.

Some 68% of Belgians responded to the survey by saying that it is difficult, very difficult or impossible for them to save any money. Among Walloons, 78% responded that they struggle to save. 

60% of Belgians say they cannot afford some of their most important day-to-day expenses, and only 40% say they are financially comfortable. Often, expenses such as childcare, higher education and vehicles are where people have the most difficulty . 

Some of the first things to go when Belgians make cuts in their budgets are day trips and weekend outings, followed then by trips to the movies, concerts or museums.
