Belgian world record attempt toasting fails

16:09 31/07/2016

An attempt by the brewer of Mort Subite lambic beers to break the world record for serving the largest round of drinks failed on Saturday when too few participants showed up to join in the mass toast. The brewery had hoped to attract at least 1,200 beer drinkers to the event, the number required to break the Guinness World Record established a few years ago in London.

According to an official count, 1,142 people raised a free glass of beer at the brewery's open day in Kobbegem, Flemish Brabant, which also included free guided tours, kriek and lambic beer tastings, street food and entertainment.
