Belgian teachers among the youngest in Europe
About 26.8% of Belgian teaching staff are over the age of 50, according to figures from Eurostat, reports Het Nieuwsblad. Belgium falls below the European average of 35.9%, making Belgian teachers some of the youngest in Europe. The figures could change significantly in the coming years, however, as teachers will have to work six years longer.
With only about a quarter of its teachers over 50, Belgium has relatively young teaching staff. Only the United Kingdom, Ireland, Poland, Luxembourg, Malta and Cyprus have more teachers under 50. The European countries with the highest number of teachers over 50 are Italy (61.9%), Bulgaria (47.7%) and Estonia (43.1%).
The recent abolition of Belgium's TBS system, or "early retirement" for teachers, is expected to have an effect on the average age.

How is this news? We know that Belgium has a shocking habit of retiring people who lose their job over the age of fifty when they can not possibly have paid for the next 30 years of pensioned leisure time, the left wing mentality being there are a limited number of jobs and they need to be shared out. It's about time it changed because if it does not, the country goes bust. It's that simple.
