Belgian ski resorts finally kick off winter season

Dry weather, sun and snow in Belgium's Eastern Cantons and Luxembourg province today prompted the opening of 23 ski resorts. Fifteen resorts opened for the first time on Sunday in the Eastern Cantons, reports the tourism office of eastern Belgium on its website. Another eight resorts also opened today in Luxembourg province, according to the tourist federation of Belgian Luxembourg.

Between 10 and 40cm of snow fell in the Belgian Ardennes at the weekend, and freezing temperatures are expected to continue in the coming days, with temperatures at night dropping to 14 degrees below zero.
