Belgian police detain anti-Islam film protesters
Belgium

A few hundred young people took to the streets of Borgerhout (Antwerp) on Saturday to protest the anti-Islam film Innocence of Muslims, which appeared last week on YouTube and has since caused quite a stir across the Arab world. According to reports, a text message circulated calling on those “with love and respect for the prophet Mohammed” to join the demonstration in protest of the film. Because no official permit was granted for the demonstration, Antwerp police administratively arrested 230 protesters and transferred them to a temporary detention centre.
