Belgian photographer Marc Lagrange killed in Tenerife accident
The internationally acclaimed Belgian photographer Marc Lagrange, 57, was killed on Friday during a holiday on the Canary Island of Tenerife, where Lagrange arrived the same day with his girlfriend and son, write various Belgian media.
The circumstances of the accident have not been confirmed, but according to Spanish newspaper La Provincia, Lagrange and his family were driving a golf cart outside of their hotel when the vehicle suddenly crashed to the ground from a height of about four metres.
It is believed that Saskia Dekkers, Lagrange's girlfriend and stylist, was also involved in the accident, as was their son Lee, but little is known about their condition. The Spanish news site 20minutos wrote: "A 47-year-old woman suffered a serious head injury and was transferred to the emergency care department of the University Hospital of the Canary Islands, and a 14-year-old boy also suffered a serious head injury.”
Lagrange, of Antwerp, was best known for his artistic nude portraits, which were described as refined, sophisticated compositions, evoking beauty, sensuality and imagination. Lagrange chose digital over analogue photography and devoted himself in recent years to video productions. The publication of his book Diamonds and Pearls in 2013 was his breakthrough with the general public.
