Belgian pensions website gets a major upgrade

13:56 21/01/2016

Government officials, employees and independents in Belgium can now consult more aspects of their retirement details online, such as the exact date upon which one can retire, thanks to a series of new features added to the pensioners portal, mypension.be. Pensions minister Daniel Bacquelaine and self-employment minister Willy Borsus presented the new features on Thursday, writes De Standaard.

The website already existed, but has been systematically updated to allow residents to consult more detailed information about career and retirement, and to easily calculate the earliest possible retirement date. The site is accessible via the e-ID.

"Users will now be quickly informed about their pension," said Bacquelaine. But the ability to view the exact amount of the statutory pension will have to wait for the next update early next year.

Mypension.be will get another major upgrade at the end of 2017, which will make it possible for users to simulate the impact that a potential career switch might have on their pension, such as the decision to become independent or work part-time.
