Belgian mobile operators to warn customers exceeding monthly bundle
Belgium
12:50 30/07/2013
The Belgian federal government is working on introducing a compulsory system of alerts to warn mobile customers when they are approaching the end of their monthly ‘inclusive’ minutes, reports Telecompaper. It is expected to be based on the existing system of alerts when using roaming services abroad. The alerts would apply to monthly mobile contracts and mobile internet, but not to prepaid services. Belgian regulator BIPT will set the spending limits for alerts, while the implementation, likely to take place through text messages, will be left to the operators. The new system is expected to take effect from February 2014.
