Belgian IT freelancer invoices UK company
Hello,
I am an IT freelancer in Belgium, and there is a potential new mission I may get. However, the recruitment company is in UK, which means I need to invoice a company in UK.
Since UK is out of EU, I guess I can still invoice them, right? What about the VAT? Charging 21% remains unchanged?
Thanks.
You invoice at 0% VAT for export. Ask your accountant for the exact form of words to use on your invoice.
First of all, I assume you are registered with a Belgian VAT number. I also assume that you are selling an IT service, not a physical product. If the UK company are registered as a company - so basically if they have a VAT number - you do not need to charge VAT. If you were invoicing a private individual, you will probably need to charge VAT. Check with your accountant.
There is no VAT on the export of services to a company outside the EU.
