Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen may head to Manchester United
Word has it that current Tottenham Spurs and Belgian national team defender Jan Vertonghen may be on his way to Manchester United. The star defender (pictured) has reportedly said he will leave Tottenham in England’s Premier League at the end of the season if the team fails to secure a Champions League spot.
News of Vertonghen’s desire to leave has apparently attracted interest from Manchester United’s manager David Moyes, who may need to fill roster spots after the season. However, Manchester may have to compete for Vertonghen’s services as powerhouse Barcelona is also looking to lure the 26-year-old Belgian away from the UK to the Spanish league.
Vertonghen joined the Spurs in 2012 for a contract worth roughly €12 million annually after leaving Amsterdam’s Ajax. Tottenham currently sits six points back of fourth place Liverpool.
