Belgian animation wins AniFest Grand Prix

Animated film Oh Willy…, by Belgians Emmy De Swaef and Marc James Roelse, has won the Grand Prix at AniFest in the Czech Republic, reports Animation World Network. A total of 1,400 films were submitted to the competition, and there were 149 films in the finals striving for the Grand Prix. The main prize was awarded to Oh Willy..., a 16-minute film that was complimented by the jury, who called it “remarkable” and “extraordinary”, adding that it would appeal to “all animated film fans”. Oh Willy... sees the title character return to the place of his youth, a naturist community, for his mother’s funeral. His return evokes in him strong memories from his childhood.
