Belgacom guilty of misleading comparative advertising
Belgacom was recently found guilty on three occasions of misleading advertising and unlawful comparative advertising against its competitor VOO, the latter has said in a statement. According to VOO, which sued Belgacom, the Commercial Court and the Court of Appeal of Brussels last June found Belgacom guilty of practices that are contrary to legislation on market practices and consumer protection. Belgacom was told it could no longer compare some of its offers with offers from VOO with a higher speed and a higher download volume. It also must clearly label terms and conditions for certain offers, and cannot compare its temporary offers to similar offers from VOO that are not subject to a temporary discount. Belgacom was also found to have erroneously claimed that the modem offered by VOO did not have Wi-Fi functionality.
