Beggars

Question

Today it's already the third time that I've been confronted with one of those individuals who walk around at the metro stations, at the EU Parliament, etc. to sell these newspapers from the homeless to earn some money. However, this young man from Spain never really tries to sell the newspaper, but he always asks directly for money "pour manger". If you then give him something or just listen to him, he tells you his story, that he needs to pay 30 Euros rent per day, and that his landlord would be angry if he didn't bring the money; and that his father is paralised at home. Today, I even found out that he doesn't have papers to legally work in Belgium.

Any advice what would be the best thing to do in such a case? I already offered to call his landlord, but he couldn't provide me with the number.

wanderlust

Well, if he needs something to eat and you are ridden with guilt, the best thing you could do would be to give him some bread, fruit or whatever you can.
