BBC iPlayer on Samsung TV?

Question

Is it possible to install a BBC iPlayer on a 2015 Samsung TV here in Belgium? iPlayer is not among the apps in Samsung's Smart TV. I hate geoblocking...

You can only install iplayer in the UK so far as I am aware.

I have it on my phone and my pad (both android) - downloaded in the UK, and it's only available in the Apple app store via the UK app store.

It works to download and save content when in the UK, but not here in Belgium, and for all the radio stations including 'listen again' over here.

I use it for the radio mostly.

Thanks! I was wondering if there's any way to circumvent this restriction (eg via VPN but not sure it exists for Smart TV)

The easiest way is to use a DNS service like Unblockus.

I don't have a Samsung, but their site has instructions for downloading and setting up iPlayer on Samsung smart TVs.

The issue isn't download the app, that simple to do. The issue you get is that the BBC see that you're not in UK when you try to watch and you and you will get an error message saying you can't access it because you're not in the UK. The way to get round this is by logging into a virtual UK IP address this is done via paying a small fee or finding a VPN provider free this is a third party you go there first and log in to make it look like you're in the UK. You can do it on PC but less sure how simple that is direct on the TV.
Also if you have a laptop or tablet like iPad it's simpler to use that to control this the TV it makes doing stuff like that simpler however Samsung are a bit naughty in that even relatively newer models when you try to get an app to use they say oh your TV isn't supported any more. So in theory yes it's possible in practice it's difficult and you will probably need to pay a third party

I have an iPad and a Samsung TV and I've usually found its easier to use the iPad to do stuff like this. As I say you need a VPN though to make it work. Let me know if you find a simpler way

I lived in Belgium until recently and used a Humax PVR decoder to watch all UK TV channels and record. I subscribed to Unlocator to fix geo problems and it worked brilliantly. I bought a Samsung TV in the UK and shipped it to Kenya where I am now and found all the UK apps disappeared despite my Unlocator DNS suggesting I was in the UK. However I just found this brilliant fix http://www.eyeondemand.com/2015/08/26/how-to-changing-your-samsung-j-ser... up popped all the UK TV channel apps and all work perfectly with my Unlocator subscription. Hope this helps.
