Bank debit/ credit cards

Question

Can anyone tell me what banks in Belgium find an easy solution to giving you a debit card (not maestro) or credit card?

CM

I'm not sure of what you mean by 'easy' and I don't know if you'll find many non-maestro debit cards, but you could try places like Keytrade, who offer a free account and card and a bit of cashback on a current account.

Deutsche Bank might be worth a look as well.

Have you a specific reason for not wanting maestro? It's free and there is no obligation to use the facility though I have found it useful if I want to use my Bancontact outside Belgium. Again, if you are in the Eurozone, there is no charge for using it.

All banks have very similar offerings.
Maestro is a standard for payment cards that all debit cards in Belgium conform to. You can't get by without it.

Thanks for your answers. The problem with Maestro in Belgium is that it is often not possible to use it for internet payments as it lacks the 3 digit security number on the back (my bank is ING and they say that they do not have this number for their maestro cards). That is all I need such a card for. This is not a problem in a lot of other European countries now as they use Visa debit or equivalent. Needless to say, the bureaucracy I am going through with ING, since a credit card is the only solution, is painful...!

There are many debitcards which are independent of banks, such as mobilevikings.

You can use Maestro with some sites, like Amazon UK.
