Are houses earthed in Belgium?

Question

arent houses and buildings in belgium grounded? really scared by the news of the fire damage sustained during the storm last night.

From the archives

Of course houses are grounded (or earthed for English speakers). Earthing does not protect a house from catching fire if it is struck by lightning. Only very tall buildings - such as chuches - which are most likely to be struck by lightning and so have a lightning conductor at the highest point have greater protection and even this is not a guarantee - lightning might still strike the building elsewhere.
