Apple and e-book publishers reach settlement

The European Commission has announced that Apple and four publishers suspected of price fixing are willing to settle the matter. The companies are suspected of keeping the price of e-books artificially high. Although the publishers and Apple explicitly state that they do not agree with the accusations, they nevertheless agreed to settle the case and have since made important concessions. The contracts between Apple and the publishers have now been adjusted, allowing for fairer competition on the market.
