AP names award-winning correspondent as Benelux editor
The Associated Press has appointed award-winning correspondent and investigative editor John-Thor Dahlburg as its news editor for Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The appointment was announced on Wednesday by the news organisation's Europe editor, Niko Price. From a Brussels base, Dahlburg will lead AP's Benelux coverage as well as the European Union, NATO and the international criminal tribunals. "We're looking forward to bringing John's experience driving hard-hitting investigations to a European stage," Price said in London. Dahlburg previously worked for AP in Paris, New York, Moscow and Miami before moved to the Los Angeles Times. As investigations editor at the South Florida Sun Sentinel, he ran a six-member team which won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize gold medal for Public Service for using databases to document chronic and often lethal speeding by off-duty police officers. A graduate of Washington & Lee University, Dahlburg also holds masters and doctorate degrees in law from the Universite de Toulouse in France. The New Jersey native speaks French and Russian as well as some Spanish, Hindi and Urdu.
