Antwerp pop-up hotel offers surprise locations

11:22 05/02/2013

Following in the footsteps of the London cabbie who turned his taxi into a mobile hotel during last year’s Olympics, Belgian company Sleeping Around has turned shipping containers into a temporary hotel that pops up at various Antwerp locations, reports the Springwise website. The metal containers have been transformed into a fashionably designed hotel space using sustainably resourced materials, with a bathroom and eating area. As previously mentioned in Flanders Today, the mobile hotels are moved around the city and guests booking a night in the hotel are treated to a surprise. After confirming their stay, they find out the hotel’s location via satnav directions. Sleeping Around has currently placed the hotel on the banks of the Scheldt but will be moving on soon. A night in the container costs about €149 per night.
