Another peregrine falcon nest in Brussels

11:15 02/04/2014

For the eleventh year in a row, a pair of peregrine falcons has taken up nest in the tower of the St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral in the centre of Brussels. A viewing cabin is being set up today at the foot of the cathedral to allow curious passers-by to observe the peregrine falcons, the world’s fastest bird.

The female laid four eggs in early March. Just like every year, webcams allow researchers and bird lovers alike to follow the birds, from the hatching of the eggs to the fledgling stage of life at the nest. It is expected that the eggs will hatch around April 5.

Last year, more than 20,000 people visited the cathedral to catch a glimpse of the falcons. Thousands more followed them online at www.falconsforeveryone.be.
