Almost 200 medicines currently unavailable in Belgium
Many popular over-the-counter medications such as Perdolan and Nurofen, as well as prescription antibiotics, are currently in short supply in Belgium, report local media.
Nearly 200 drugs are currently unavailable in Belgium. The main products concerned are Perdolan, Nurofen, antibiotics, syrups, corticosteroids and aerosols.
The shortage is due to rising demand, a lack of labour in China and a drop in production due to inflation and rising energy prices.
In response to the lack of popular medicines, pharmacists ask colleagues for supplies, replace unavailable products with generics, and in some cases, make their own preparations.
