After Stib strike, public sector walkout planned next Tuesday

21:20 19/02/2018

Buses, trams and metros in Brussels will return to normal on Tuesday morning after unions reached an agreement with Stib management to end their strike.

But another strike across the Belgian public sector is planned by the CGSP union for next Tuesday, 27 February, affecting SNCB rail services from 22.00 the day before.

The union is protesting against government plans to change the way public sector pensions are calculated for employees in strenuous jobs.

The SNCB has asked staff to inform management by Saturday whether they will take part in the strike. Disruption is also likely on Walloon bus operator TEC - and in schools, post offices and other public services.
